ED DELANEY TO DELIVER PROPERTY TAX QUESTIONNAIRES
TO 15,000 HOUSEHOLDS IN HOUSE DISTRICT 86

Ed DeLaney, Democratic candidate for Indiana House District 86 will begin delivery of 15,000 property tax questionnaires in District 86, on Tuesday June 17, 2008.   Questionnaires will ask homeowners about the impact of Governor Mitch Daniel’s property tax reassessment on their recent 2007 tax bill and how the rapid property tax increase has affected their lives.

“The property tax crisis is far from over and the time has come to find the root cause of this crisis,” stated DeLaney, who cited the escalating tax burden for homeowners as the primary reason he decided to enter the legislative race.

In addition, homeowners will be asked on the questionnaires to provide the amount of their property tax bill in 2006, the amount of their 2007 tax bill and the amount they are being asked to pay to reconcile their 2007 tax bill

“In the door to door canvassing of my own neighborhood, many people have expressed concern over the chaotic property tax situation,” noted DeLaney.  “With skyrocketing gas prices, an increase in the State Sales Tax and higher grocery bills, Hoosiers want more stability in their property taxes so they can plan the family budget.  Right now, everything seems to be in a freefall with no relief in sight.”

Volunteers will gather at the law office of DeLaney and DeLaney beginning at 3:00 p.m., to receive their neighborhood assignments and detailed maps.  Delivery will continue through the evening until 9:00 p.m.

The law office is located at 3646 Washington Boulevard.

Indiana House District 86 incorporates portions of Center and Washington Townships in Marion County and Clay Township in Hamilton County.
